Kent Lee has announced he is running for Ward 8 Alderman, Bloomington City Council, in the April 4, 2023 Consolidated Election. Kent has resided in the Bloomington – Normal area for over 30 years, and has lived in Ward 8 since 2009.
Kent came to Bloomington-Normal to attend school at Illinois State University in 1988. After graduating, he met his wife and decided to call Bloomington his home and raise a family. Kent has worked as an analyst at State Farm for 22 years. Kent and his wife Melissa, a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan, have three children who attend school in District 87.
“My priorities are safety, economic opportunity, and infrastructure,” said Kent. “I have loved raising my family in this community. Bloomington provides a safe place where people can earn a good living and kids of all ages can get a quality education.”
Kent’s vision is to serve a community where residents can feel safe, and families don’t have to worry about the safety of their children. He will use his analytical problem-solving skills and work hard to build a community where people from all walks of life can find stability and prosperity, a place where the people can be proud to call Bloomington their home.
Kent wants to focus on policies that will ensure this community and its businesses continue to flourish economically. He is committed to work collaboratively to establish policies that will enable a strong economy where people can find opportunities to better themselves and provide for their loved ones. “My parents were small business owners. I helped with the family business and saw how hard they worked to provide for me and my siblings,” said Kent.
Kent stated, “It would be an honor to serve the people of Ward 8 in Bloomington where my family and I call home. I love being part of this community and hope to earn your vote.”
