Midwest Food Bank and The Kroger Zero Hunger|Zero Waste Foundation are joining forces to fight food insecurity in Illinois. From now through December 25, 2022, Illinois Kroger customers will be asked at checkout to make a donation to help feed local families. The donations will be given to MFB locations in Morton, Normal, and Peoria, Illinois.
“Midwest Food Bank is grateful for the support of Kroger,” says Tara Ingham, Executive Director of MFB Normal. “Every dollar donated results in $30 worth of food distributed to those in need.”
Consumers are struggling with inflationary pressures. On average, MFB has seen a 25% increase in demand from its nonprofit partner agencies in 2022. This program will help with food procurement to meet the increased need.
“Kroger is always honored to partner with Midwest Food Bank for those in need in our communities,” says Eric Halvorson, Manager of Corporate Affairs for Kroger Central Division. “We’re hoping to make happy holiday memories, one meal at a time.”
