Kiley Sturm,33, of Bloomington has been arrested on DUI charges after a crash that killed a 2-year-old girl earlier this month in east Bloomington.
In a statement, the Bloomington Police Department the incident occurred at 12:25 p.m. Sunday, July 2 to a single-vehicle crash at Hershey Road and Gloucester Circle.
Strum is charged with aggravated driving under the influence (involving death), driving under the influence of alcohol. BPD said she was also charged with improper lane usage, not wearing a seat belt, and not restraining a child.

On Sunday, 07/02/2023, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Bloomington police officers and paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Hershey Road and Gloucester Circle, for a traffic crash involving a single vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers observed a vehicle had struck a concrete bridge barrier railing. The driver of the vehicle was conscious. The two-year-old passenger was unresponsive. BPD officers performed life saving measures on the two-year-old passenger. Paramedics with the Bloomington Fire Department then assumed patient care.
The driver and passenger were transported to a nearby hospital. The two-year-old passenger was later transferred to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver, Kiley Sturm, was arrested after she was medically cleared on Monday, 7/10/23.

Chief Jamal Simington stated, “On behalf of the Bloomington Police Department, I want to extend my sincerest condolences to the family and loved ones of the two-year-old passenger during this time of tragedy. This is a very unfortunate incident which brings a stark reminder of the dangers of driving while intoxicated. This was a very tough investigation for our first responders to endure, please keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers concerning this loss of life.”
