Friday, following President Joe Biden’s announcement that she has been appointed a member of the Route 66 Centennial Commission, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton provided the following statement:
“I am beyond grateful and proud to be appointed by President Biden to the Route 66 Centennial Commission. As Lt. Governor of Illinois, I have been dedicated to uplifting what makes our state so great. That includes the communities who demonstrate Illinois’ diversity and resilience, and the businesses that are the life force of our economy. Route 66 is at the heart of who we are and where we come from as a state, and I have long recognized the impact of its legacy connecting urban and rural regions in Illinois and beyond. From my work as Chair of the Governor’s Rural Affairs Council to my past efforts in the General Assembly shining a light on Route 66’s significance in Illinois, I am excited to bring my voice to this Commission and build on my mission serving every community so we may go even further together.”
