He’s back and running for senate this time. The man who ran in the crowded 105th district but lost to Republican Dennis Tipsword in the 2022 Primary.
Dennis Tipsword in a State Representative in 105th and recently came under fire for co sponsoring legislation that would grant non-citizens arresting powers over citizens.
Mike Kirkton a veteran, businessman and farmer, announced that he will be a candidate for Illinois State Senate District 53.
Current State Senator Tom Bennett has stated that he will not seek reelection.
“I want to be a strong, common-sense, conservative voice for the people of the 53rd Senate District,” said Kirkton. “I will work to protect the rights of the unborn, as well as being a strong voice defending our Second Amendment rights. I am committed to helping fight for lower taxes, smaller government and helping to provide the necessary tools for our small businesses to grow without government interference.”
Kirkton served for over 26 years in the U.S. Army, where he earned a Bronze Star leading soldiers in the Gulf War and commanding infantry units throughout the world.
He has also served on the Livingston County Board as chairman of Rules, Legislation, Veterans and Community Services Committee.
Currently, Mike is the President and Chief Executive Office of Top View Farms, a family-owned farm in Livingston County.
The State Senate District is comprised of all or parts of the following counties; Bureau, Ford, Grundy, Iroquois, LaSalle, Livingston, Marshall, McLean, Peoria, Putnam, Tazewell, Will and Woodford.
