Macon Speedway for sale again
After only a year under new ownership, the Macon Speedway is for sale again. The owner said the decision to sell is due to his wife’s health issues, but that the speedway will run a full schedule in 2024 if it doesn’t sell over the winter.
The city gave the new owners more than $200,000 to build new restrooms at the facility. The asking price for the track is $750,000.
Test deer for CWD
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is reminding deer hunters there are dozens of locations where deer can be tested for chronic wasting disease free of charge during the upcoming hunting season.
Chronic wasting disease is a fatal disease of the central nervous system in deer and elk. It was first detected in a suspect adult female deer from northwest Boone County in 2002. The disease is currently confined to a 19-county area in the northern third of Illinois.
