The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) gears up for the Dual Team Wrestling and Girls Individual Wrestling State Finals, scheduled to take place on February 23-24, 2024, at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington-
Normal.
In its third year, the IHSA Girls Individual Wrestling event continues to grow. Over 1,400 girls participated in the regional tournaments earlier in February, marking a significant increase from the previous year. 224 female wrestlers will compete for the state title. For the Boys Dual Team State Finals, the top 24 wrestling teams from across the state will vie for the championship, with 8 teams competing in each class.
The action-packed weekend kicks off on Friday, with weigh-ins for the Girls starting at 7:30 a.m., followed by Round 1 at 9 a.m. Quarterfinals commence at 11:00 a.m., with Round 1 Wrestlebacks and Round 2 Wrestlebacks scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Weigh-ins for the Boys Dual Team Tournament begin at 3:30 p.m., leading into Top Bracket quarterfinals at 5 p.m. and Bottom Bracket quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
Saturday’s schedule promises even more excitement, with semifinal matches for both Dual Team and Girls Individual Wrestling starting at 9 a.m. The Girls Individual Wrestling championship matches are set to begin at 2 p.m., followed by the Boys Dual Team finals at 6 p.m. Bloomington-Normal is honored to host the Dual Team State Finals and the Girls Individual
State Finals, offering fans an electrifying experience of high-level competition and sportsmanship.
Tickets for each session are priced at $9 and can be conveniently purchased through Grossinger Motors Arena’s TicketMaster link. For those unable to purchase tickets online, they will be available at the Arena Ticket Office by calling (309-434-2777). Attendees are advised that Grossinger Motors Arena enforces a Clear Bag Policy.
Anticipation is building for the event, with nearly 4,000 attendees expected over the course of the two days. The IHSA Dual Team and Girls Individual Wrestling State Finals are projected to have a direct economic impact of $314,400 on the region.
