Arrests made at after parade
A mass arrest took place after a Pride parade in Chicago.
After reports of people jumping on vehicles and throwing bottles, Chicago police ordered a mass arrest aboud 1:30 a.m. Monday. Riot shields were used to clear streets and some individuals were taken away in handcuffs. There were reports of injuries.
Fatal racetrack crash
One person is dead following a crash at the Jacksonville Speedway.
According to the Morgan County coroner, a 410-winged sprint car lost control Friday and killed 65-year-old Ralph Willhite in the infield. Willhite died at the scene. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
According to witnesses, a mechanical malfunction may have caused the car to leave the track.
Drugs, expired license lead to arrest
Police in southern Illinois arrested a man in possession of multiple drugs and a long-ago expired drivers license.
Williams County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over a vehicle and said they noticed the smell of cannabis when they approached the driver. The driver handed the police a pipe for smoking marijuana. They also discovered that the man’s driver’s license expired in 2005.
After conducting a search of the vehicle, police said they found other drugs in the man’s possession and took him into custody.
