This year’s McLean County Veterans Day ceremony will take place at a new location, moving from the traditional site at the McLean County Museum of History to VFW Post 454, located at 1006 E. Lincoln Street in Bloomington. The change in venue comes after the organizers were unable to secure the museum’s indoor space or the National Guard Armory on South Main Street.
Jim Waters, Quartermaster with VFW Post 454, announced the shift, saying, “We are not able to use the McLean County Museum for this year’s event, nor were we able to secure the use of the National Guard Armory… therefore, we are moving the event to VFW Post 454.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive by 10 a.m., with the formal program beginning at 11 a.m. The commemoration will be marked by the firing of one shot per minute starting at 10:49 a.m., followed by a planned flyover of WWII-era aircraft, weather permitting. Indoor seating will be available at the VFW hall to ensure a comfortable experience for all guests.
This Veterans Day ceremony will honor local veterans and provide a moment of reflection and gratitude for those who have served, reminding the community of the importance of supporting veterans and their families.
