Bloomington, IL — On Thursday, November 21, the McLean County Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Agriculture Awards Dinner at the Bloomington Country Club, bringing together community leaders to honor outstanding contributions to the agriculture industry. The awards, presented by the Chamber’s Agribusiness Council, recognize individuals and families who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to advancing agriculture in McLean County.
The event, which began with a reception at 5:30 PM followed by dinner and the awards program at 6:30 PM, celebrated achievements across various facets of agriculture, from conservation to agribusiness.
2024 Agriculture Award Recipients:
Outstanding Conservationist Award
Greg Kelley was recognized for his significant contributions to advancing soil and water conservation practices in McLean County. This award is given in partnership with the McLean County Soil and Water Conservation District.
Emerging Leader in Agriculture Award
Lauren Monk, a young professional engaged in non-production agriculture, was honored for her leadership and commitment to improving agriculture through civic and community activities.
Outstanding Person in Agribusiness Award
Becky Ropp received this accolade for her exemplary work in promoting agriculture through her business endeavors and community involvement.
Outstanding Service to Agriculture Award
Adam and Katelyn Jones were celebrated for their significant contributions to advancing the cause of agriculture in McLean County through their service and advocacy.
Outstanding Young Farmer Award
Colin Francis was recognized as a young farmer (under 40) who has actively participated in community and civic efforts to support and enhance agriculture. This award is determined by the McLean County Farm Bureau.
McLean County Farmer of the Year Award
Mike Kelley received the evening’s top honor for his leadership and dedication to promoting and improving agriculture through civic and community engagement. This award is also considered by the McLean County Farm Bureau.
The Agriculture Awards Dinner highlighted McLean County’s rich agricultural heritage and the individuals who ensure its continued growth and sustainability. The Chamber expressed its gratitude to all attendees and the broader community for their support in celebrating the vital role agriculture plays in the region.
