Illinois sues Trump over birthright citizenship
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul has joined three other attorneys general in suing President Donald Trump over the constitutionality of his executive order that would end birthright citizenship, under the 14th Amendment, for the U.S.-born children of immigrants without legal status.
In Illinois in 2022, approximately 9,000 U.S. citizen children were born to mothers who lack legal status, and just over 5,000 U.S. citizen children were born to two parents who lacked legal status.

Insurance rates increasing
Allstate Insurance has announced that it’s raising home insurance rates by more than 14% this winter for customers who live in Illinois.
The new insurance rates will take effect on Feb. 24, and will impact about a quarter million customers.
The new price hike comes after the company implemented a 12% raise last year. The company said the increase is due to more instances of severe weather and higher repair costs.
