Governor J.B. Pritzker and Ferrero North America marked World Nutella Day in a sweet way on Tuesday, handing out Nutella treats at the Illinois State House and officially declaring it Illinois Nutella Day.
Ferrero, a global confectionery giant, has a significant presence in Illinois, employing over 1,700 people across its manufacturing, office, and retail locations. The company’s Bloomington facility produces CRUNCH, 100 Grand, Raisinets, SnoCaps, and Kinder Bueno, while its Franklin Park plant makes Butterfinger and Baby Ruth. Chicago is home to Ferrero’s Keebler production and North American Innovation Center.
Ferrero has been expanding its footprint in the state, recently investing $285 million in its Bloomington plant, adding more than 250 jobs. The company also operates over 40 Fannie May retail locations across Illinois.
With the governor’s recognition, Illinois Nutella Day joins the celebration of the beloved hazelnut spread, highlighting Ferrero’s impact on the state’s economy and chocolate lovers alike.
