Sunday storms knock out power
Strong thunderstorms moved through Illinois Sunday, leaving thousands without power.
According to Ameren Illinois, power outages were reported in several Illinois counties, including Peoria, Fulton and Knox counties. Fulton County officials reported power lines were down throughout the county.
As of mid-Monday morning, nearly 1,500 households were still without power.
Plane crash investigation
The Illinois State Police has released the origin of the plane that crashed near the Coles and Cumberland county lines Saturday. The Coles County coroner said four people in their 40s were from Menomonie, Wisconsin. The aircraft was removed from the roadway about 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
Rally planned to end tipped wage
Tipped restaurant workers from across Illinois will descend onto the State Capitol Tuesday to join the Rainbow Push Coalition in demanding an end to the tipped wage.
Supporters said the subminimum wage is a direct legacy of slavery, and it continues to lock tens of thousands of Black workers into poverty.
Critics said ending the tipped wage will drive up costs and eliminate jobs in the service industry.
