(The Center Square) – In today’s edition of Illinois in Focus Daily, The Center Square Associate Editor Greg Bishop reviews some of the happenings out of the Illinois Statehouse late last week, including a discussion about the smell of raw cannabis being grounds for a vehicle search and pushback against more proposed tax increases.
Bishop also discusses the status of two lawsuits the U.S. Department of Justice has against the state of Illinois impacting the state’s migrant sanctuary laws and what the DOJ says is a law that obscures non-citizens ineligible from work from being verified by federal officials.
Finally, Bishop gives updates on the status of various lawsuits challenging Illinois gun laws, including the briefs being filed in the case challenging Illinois’ gun ban, oral arguments coming up for a challenge to the state’s mass transit concealed carry prohibition and more.
