Johnson says he’s done everything to keep Bears in Chicago
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson says he has done everything he can to keep the Chicago Bears in the Windy City. The team said recently it’s focusing on Arlington Heights for a new stadium.
Johnson said he hasn’t closed the door on a lakefront stadium or one on the site of the former Michael Reese hospital. Gov. J.B. Pritzker has said he is not opposed to state funding for a stadium, but it has to provide a benefit for taxpayers.
The Bears proposed a $4.7 billion stadium project for the lakefront that involved public funding.
