60 Illinoisans to become US citizens
Sixty individuals will become new U.S. citizens with a naturalization ceremony planned Wednesday in Springfield at the Old State Capitol.
The citizen candidates come from 25 different countries, including China, India, Mexico, the United Kingdom and even Russia. The ceremony will take place at 11 a.m.
112 citations issued in enforcement
Illinois State Police conducted nearly 1,900 commercial motor vehicle enforcements during a three-day campaign earlier this month.
In a news release, ISP said officers enforced state and federal regulations by conducting inspections. They issued 112 citations, gave more than 2,100 warnings and made one arrest between May 13-16.
United union reps consider airline offer
Locally-elected union representatives for 28,000 flight attendants are scheduled to meet Wednesday and Thursday to consider a tentative agreement with Chicago-based United Airlines.
The Association of Flight Attendants said the deal includes industry-leading compensation and retro pay. United says the deal would become amendable in five years.
