A fire broke out Tuesday evening at a duplex on Yukon Circle, spreading into the shared attic and threatening both units.
Crews arrived shortly before 7 p.m. to find flames at the rear of the building and launched an aggressive interior attack. All residents were safely evacuated. Thirty Bloomington firefighters responded, with one sustaining a minor injury. No civilian injuries were reported.
The fire was traced to improper disposal of smoking materials. Most crews cleared the scene by 9 p.m., and the Red Cross is assisting one displaced resident.
Off-duty firefighters were called in to maintain city coverage. Bloomington Police, NICOR Gas, and Cornbelt Energy also responded.
