McLean County Clerk Kathy Michael has announced her candidacy for re-election, with the Primary Election set for March 17, 2026. Michael highlighted her office’s broad responsibilities beyond elections, including vital records, business registrations, and property records.
Since voters approved merging the Recorder’s Office with the Clerk’s Office in 2012, Michael credited her staff for maintaining strong customer service. Key achievements include digitizing records, launching a free property fraud alert system, enhancing cybersecurity, and adapting services during COVID-19.
Michael emphasized her office’s civic outreach, ADA grant efforts, and a track record of secure elections, stating that 26 elections have been held with no credible reports of fraud or suppression. She thanked the public for its continued support and looks forward to the opportunity to serve again
