$7 million awarded to tech innovators
Four technology incubators are getting $7 million in state tax money.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s office announced the funds are meant to support entrepreneurship and innovation in key growth industries around the state. EnterpriseWorks 2.0 at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is getting $3 million.
Shuttered Pillsbury site getting cleanup funds
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is giving a retired industrial site in Springfield an additional $3 million for cleanup.
EPA officials and advocates with Moving Pillsbury Forward plan to host a site visit Wednesday. The Pillsbury factory was opened in 1929, but has long been shuttered and fallen into disrepair.
The site already received $3 million from the EPA for asbestos cleanup.
More professional licenses available online
More professions needing to be licensed by the state can now apply online.
The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation announced an additional 24 professions are now available through the department’s website, including interior design, landscape architect and prosthetist. There are now 70 professional licenses where people can apply online.
