The Bloomington Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred late Thursday night on the city’s west side.
Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Illinois Street at approximately 11:35 p.m. on July 17, 2025, following a report of a person who had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located an adult with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported by Bloomington Fire Department paramedics to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is scheduled.
The Bloomington Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit and Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene and are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the homicide in collaboration with the McLean County Coroner’s Office.
