Migrant released in April detained by ICE
U.S. Immigrations and Custom Enforcement officers have arrested a Mexican national accused of concealing a death, abusing a corpse and obstructing justice in Illinois.
Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, 52, was arrested in April after the body of 37-year-old Megan Bos was found outside his home, but the suspect was released under Illinois’ SAFE-T Act. ICE officers arrested Mendoza-Gonzalez in Chicago on Saturday.
Automotive seating manufacturer setting up in Normal
With help from state taxpayers, an automotive seating company is planning to open an assembly facility adjacent to the Rivian manufacturing plan in Normal.
Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced that Adient will make an investment of more than $8 million, with support from the state’s Reimagining Energy and Vehicles in Illinois program.
The facility is expected to create 75 jobs.
‘Gender-affirming’ pediatric care discontinued
University of Chicago Medicine has discontinued “gender-affirming” pediatric care.
Friday’s announcement comes in response to federal government actions which the medical group said would place its ability to care for Medicare or Medicaid patients at risk.
A few days earlier, Rush Medical Center of Chicago announced it was pausing gender-affirming hormonal treatments of minors.
