A 31-year-old man from Normal, Illinois has been arrested and charged with two counts of intentional homicide of an unborn child after allegedly administering abortion-inducing medication to a pregnant woman without her consent, resulting in the loss of her pregnancy.
Emergency responders from the Bloomington Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a residence on Friday evening, August 22, following reports of a medical emergency involving a pregnant individual. Investigators determined that the suspect, Emerson Evans, had unlawfully given the victim abortion-inducing drugs, leading to severe medical complications and a miscarriage.
Evans was located and taken into custody by Bloomington detectives. He is currently being held at the McLean County Detention Facility. The McLean County Coroner’s Office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and the official cause of death remains pending further examination.
Police Chief Jamal Simington expressed sorrow over the incident, stating, “We are again saddened by the alleged criminal actions which resulted in harm to others. It is my hope the mother involved in the matter fully recovers and has the resources and support of this strong community in the future.”
