A Bloomington man has been arrested on 44 counts of child pornography following an investigation by the Bloomington Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit.
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, officers from the BPD Street Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Division, along with the U.S. Marshals Service, took Aaron Ringo, 35, of Bloomington, into custody. He is being held at the McLean County Detention Facility after being denied pre-trial release.
The case began when a technology company reported suspected child sex abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). BPD detectives executed multiple search warrants, ultimately locating evidence of child sexual abuse material.
Ringo faces a range of felony charges, including:

12 counts of Possession of Child Pornography (victim under 13) – Class 2 Felony

6 counts of Possession of Child Pornography (moving depiction) – Class 2 Felony

10 counts of Reproduction of Child Pornography (moving depiction) – Class X Felony

16 counts of Reproduction of Child Pornography (victim under 13) – Class X Felony
“These crimes are very complicated, complex, and tough for our detectives, but they remain laser focused in working cyber crime cases with a high level of determination,” said Bloomington Police Chief Jamal Simington. “The victims deserve the very best protection and justice, and it is our focus and mission to do that.”
The Bloomington Police Department participates in the Illinois Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which investigates and trains law enforcement agencies on child exploitation crimes.
