The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA) has been named a finalist for the prestigious Levitt Foundation Music Series Grant, city officials announced Tuesday. The nomination comes through a partnership between the City of Bloomington’s Arts & Entertainment Department and the Friends of the BCPA.
The Levitt Music Series offers multi-year matching grants that fund free, live outdoor concerts across the country. Selected nonprofits can receive up to $40,000 per year for three years—totaling as much as $120,000—to host seven to ten concerts annually. The series aims to transform public spaces into vibrant community destinations through accessible live music.
Finalists are chosen based on community engagement, with winners determined through a combination of public voting and a final review by the Levitt Foundation.
Local residents can support the BCPA by voting between September 5 and September 15. Votes may be cast by texting “BLOOM” to (877) 409-5525 or by visiting vote.levitt.org/sign-up.
“We are ecstatic to be considered for this grant,” said Anthony Nelson, Bloomington’s Arts & Entertainment Director. “Community participation is key—if you’d like to see more free and accessible entertainment in Downtown Bloomington, please vote for the BCPA.”
Bloomington is the only city in Illinois to be named a finalist for the AMP grant this year. More details about the BCPA can be found at artsblooming.org.
