On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, shortly before 9:00 p.m., Bloomington police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Veterans Parkway and Clearwater Avenue. The Bloomington Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers located the crash and began their investigation. The driver, an adult male, was found unresponsive in the roadway. Several community members stopped to help the driver before paramedics arrived. Paramedics arrived on scene, provided medical care, and transported him to a local hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries.
Due to the severity of the crash, the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team (MCART) was called to assist with the investigation. Southbound traffic on Veterans Parkway, from Vernon Avenue to Clearwater Avenue, was shut down for several hours while the reconstruction team, BPD Crime Scene Unit, and BPD Drone Unit continued the investigation.
Chief Jamal Simington stated, “It is essential for all users of our highway system to follow the rules of the road. Those rules are designed to maintain safety. They are standards created for minimizing crashes, injuries, and damage. We will place a higher emphasis on traffic enforcement as a result of these severe crashes and public complaints.”
This was the second motorcycle crash on Veterans Parkway in just two days. The first crash occurred at Veterans Parkway and Eastland Drive on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 10:34 p.m. That single-vehicle crash also resulted in life-threatening injuries and remains under investigation. No further updates are available at this time.
These incidents remain under investigation by the Bloomington Police Department and the McLean County Accident Reconstruction Team. Anyone with information should contact the Bloomington Police Department at 309-820-8888.
