Work is underway on the Downtown for Everyone Streetscape Project, a major initiative designed to modernize infrastructure and revitalize the heart of Bloomington. The project aims to enhance accessibility, safety, and vibrancy, ensuring downtown remains a welcoming destination for residents and visitors alike.
Crews are currently in Phase One, focused on the 600 block of North Main Street. As part of this phase, the west northbound lane of Route 51 is closed and will remain so through the end of construction, which is expected to be completed before year’s end. Additional lane closures may occur as the project advances.
Despite construction, all downtown businesses remain open. Community members are encouraged to continue supporting local establishments throughout the project.
