A 35-year-old Champaign man has been arrested following a Normal Police Department investigation into allegations of sexual assault against a juvenile.
Police said Nathaniel L. Stokes was taken into custody on Sept. 17, 2025, and booked into the McLean County Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant. The warrant followed a July 2025 investigation that alleged Stokes had inappropriate contact with a girl under the age of 13 while staying at a residence in Normal.
Stokes faces four felony charges: two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, all involving a victim under 13.
The investigation involved coordination between Normal Police, the McLean County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
Authorities remind the public that Stokes is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact Normal Police at 309-454-9535 or provide an anonymous tip through Tip411 by texting NORMALPD to 847411.
