The City of Bloomington has declared a “Severe Drought” after water levels at Lake Bloomington and Evergreen Lake dropped to a combined deficit of 10 feet, triggering formal response measures under city code.
City Manager Jeff Jurgens issued a proclamation setting a community goal of reducing overall water use by 10 percent. The restrictions mainly target nonessential uses, including irrigation, water-based recreation, aesthetic commercial water use, and third-party withdrawals from Lake Bloomington.
Officials say winter conditions have already limited outdoor water use, and the declaration is aimed primarily at planning and compliance while encouraging continued conservation. City staff will keep monitoring lake levels and drought conditions as updates become available.
