Heartland Community College will host a public criminal justice panel examining the murder case of Bloomington man Barton McNeil on Thursday, March 19.
The event, titled “Beyond the Verdict: Barton McNeil’s Continuing Fight for Justice,” will be held at the Astroth Community Education Center Auditorium on the Normal campus from 9:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
The presentation will review McNeil’s 1998 conviction in the death of his 3-year-old daughter and recent efforts to introduce new evidence from the University of Chicago Law School’s Exoneration Project and the Illinois Innocence Project. Two sessions are scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
