(TheCenter Square) – A Chicago alderman has introduced legislation that would prevent the Department of Streets and Sanitation and private towing companies from collecting fees if the tow was made necessary by federal immigration enforcement actions.
Chicago Flips Red Vice President Danielle Carter-Walters said in a social media post that the proposal by Alderman Andre Vasquez would require taxpayers to cover the towing costs for vehicles owned by people who are in the country illegally.
WINTHROP HARBOR MAN CONVICTED OF THREAT
A federal jury has convicted a Winthrop Harbor man of making a true threat to kill public officials, including President Donald Trump.
Prosecutors say Trent Schneider, 58, made the threats in a social media video posted Oct. 21. On the same date, Schneider told the judge presiding over his pending foreclosure case that he would burn down the courthouse.
Schneider faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
OAK PARK HOSPITAL SUSPENDS SERVICES
An Oak Park hospital has stopped serving patients. West Suburban Medical Center’s website says the facility has suspended all patient care services due to an ongoing technology-related challenge. T
he village of Oak Park said in a statement that a reported financial crisis stemmed from a year-long failure of the hospital’s electronic medical records billing system.
