Officials in McLean County have issued an emergency declaration following widespread damage from severe storms that moved through the area Friday night.
Leaders from the City of Bloomington, Town of Normal, and McLean County said no injuries have been reported. Emergency crews remain active across the region, working to maintain public safety and restore essential services. Utility providers expect power to be fully restored by noon Sunday, April 19.
The county’s Emergency Operations Center has been activated, with coordination underway between local governments, first responders, and utility companies. Officials say critical infrastructure and public safety systems remain operational as recovery efforts continue.
Residents are urged to use caution when traveling, avoid downed power lines, check on vulnerable neighbors, and follow official communication channels for updates. Those experiencing outages or property damage are also encouraged to report impacts through the county’s self-reporting tool to assist response efforts.
