The City of Bloomington and Town of Normal are inviting residents to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a community drone show on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at the Interstate Center.
Gates open at 6 p.m. with food trucks, family activities, and live entertainment. Front Street Collective will perform from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., while the Bloomington Bison Kids Zone and activities from Iron Coyote will provide additional entertainment.
The evening’s centerpiece will be a professionally choreographed 300-drone light show beginning at 9 p.m., featuring patriotic displays and community-inspired visuals honoring the nation’s semi quincentennial.
“This is a chance to bring people together around a once-in-a-generation milestone,” Bloomington Mayor Dan Brady said. “We’re excited to partner with the Town of Normal, community sponsors, and local organizations to create an event people will remember.”
The free event is supported by sponsors including State Farm, O’Brien Auto Group, Cybernautic, Stark Excavating, York Public Adjusting, LiUNA!, and Gibson Area Hospital & Health Services. Additional sponsors and event details will be announced in the coming weeks.
