A Normal man is facing dozens of felony charges following a months-long investigation by the Bloomington Police Department into alleged child exploitation offenses.
A McLean County grand jury on Wednesday returned a 42-count indictment against 40-year-old Andrew M. Miller of Normal. Authorities say the investigation began in February after a victim reported exchanging sexually explicit photographs with Miller while the victim was a minor. Police allege Miller was over the age of 18 and held a position of trust or authority at the time.
Detectives executed search warrants at Miller’s home, workplace at Chiddix School and vehicle on February 18, seizing multiple electronic devices. A forensic examination by the Bloomington Police Department’s Cyber Crimes Unit reportedly uncovered additional victims and evidence leading to charges of indecent solicitation of a child, grooming and 40 counts of possession of child sex abuse material.
Miller was arrested without incident Wednesday afternoon following a traffic stop near Bunn Street and Hamilton Road in Bloomington. He was booked into the McLean County Detention Facility, where a pre-trial detention hearing is scheduled for Thursday. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information related to the case or who may have had similar interactions with Miller to contact Bloomington Police Detective Weston Gresham. Miller is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
