The Town of Normal Parks & Recreation Department will celebrate National Park and Recreation Month with Pack the Park from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday at One Normal Plaza.
To mark Route 66’s 100th anniversary, the town is also hosting Stride and Ride, an open streets event along a section of Route 66. Pine Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from Chippewa Street south to Sprague Super Service from 8 to 11 a.m. Motorists should use Shelbourne or Willow Street as alternate routes.
Parking will be available at the Community Activity Center, with overflow parking at Normandy Village and Hammitt School.
