The Normal Police Department is joining law enforcement agencies across Illinois for “Saturation Saturday,” a statewide and nationwide effort targeting impaired drivers ahead of Labor Day weekend.
Normal officers will increase traffic enforcement today, Saturday, August 29, focusing on drivers under the influence of alcohol or other impairing substances. The campaign is being conducted with Mothers Against Drunk Driving Illinois and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.
Police remind drivers to plan ahead if they’re drinking or using an impairing substance. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service or arrange another safe way home. Anyone who sees an impaired or dangerous driver should safely pull over and contact police.
