(The Center Square) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker says President Donald Trump is not wanted or needed in Illinois. Pritzker’s campaign released a statement on Monday after the president said he would attend the Presidents Cup golf tournament in Medinah later this month.
Pritzker said in the statement that Trump knows where to find him.
“We are ready for this fight,” Pritzker said.
ILLINOIS OPPOSES FEDERAL CHANGES TO WORKFORCE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
The Illinois Department of Human Rights joined civil rights enforcement agencies in six states and the District of Columbia in a statement urging the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission to not rescind federal workforce demographic reporting requirements.
The agencies argued that ending the collection would reduce transparency and could shift costs rather than eliminate them.
ISP: WEAPONS, SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN GRANITE CITY SHOOTING
According to Illinois State Police, new information has identified two weapons during the investigation of an officer-involved shooting in Granite City.
ISP said Granite City police and Madison County sheriff’s officers responded on Aug. 24 to a report of an armed suspect, now identified as Ryan Cerentano, 40. Cerentano allegedly did not comply with officers’ commands to drop a handgun and a replica long gun.
Both a city officer and a county officer discharged their firearms, striking Cerentano, who later died of his injuries. No officers were injured.
DUCK, BOBCAT PERMIT LOTTERIES OPEN
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the public duck and goose hunting area permit second lottery will be open from today to Sept. 15.
The bobcat permit lottery opens statewide today and ends on Sept. 30.
