(The Center Square) – The Lake County board has approved an eight-month moratorium on data centers in unincorporated areas.
The measure puts any potential data center applications in unincorporated Lake County on hold until May 2027.
The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition applauded the move and called on the General Assembly to pass statewide data center regulation this fall.
CWB REPORT REVEALS POLICE OVERSIGHT COMMISSION DISPUTE
Members of Chicago’s primary police oversight commission tried to push one of its own members off the workgroup searching for the city’s next police superintendent and then fought to keep the paper trail hidden from the public.
CWB Chicago reported on Tuesday that the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability released an 86-page email chain less than 48 hours after the Illinois Attorney General’s Office opened an inquiry into its handling of CWB’s FOIA request.
The chain showed four commissioners working to remove Sandra Wortham from the Superintendent Search Work Group, despite the commission president warning that the effort lacked a clear basis and could look like an attempt to settle an interpersonal or philosophical disagreement through a procedural maneuver.
VETERANS HONORED WITH BIPLANE FLIGHTS
Nonprofit Dream Flights and the Health Care Council of Illinois honored six Illinois veterans with flights in a restored open-cockpit biplane on Tuesday.
The event took place at Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport as part of the 2026 Dream Flights Tour, which is expected to honor nearly 800 senior veterans nationwide.
