(The Center Square) – Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s latest appointee to the Capital Development Board is Dustin Ramage, business manager with Downstate Illinois Laborers’ District Council and special international representative with Laborers’ International Union of North America.
Ramage previously served as president of LIUNA Local 100. Capital Development Board members receive no salary but are reimbursed for expenses.
PRITZKER TOUTS EXPANDED ACCESS TO WEIGHT LOSS DRUGS
After disclosing that he lost 80 pounds about 18 months after he started using GLP-1s, Gov. J.B. Pritzker said he will continue to urge all insurers to cover the weight-loss drugs.
Pritzker said in a Substack article that he made Illinois one of the first states to cover GLP-1s on the state employee health insurance plan.
STATE REP PROPOSES CANNABIS FREEDOM PAYMENTS
New legislation in the Illinois House provides for direct cash payments to people who have been disproportionately impacted by historical cannabis enforcement.
State Rep. La Shawn Ford, D-Chicago, filed House Bill 5815 on Thursday. The measure calls for the creation of the Illinois Freedom Fund in the state treasury.
AVERAGE DIESEL PRICE CLIMBS ANOTHER NICKEL
AAA says the average price for diesel fuel in Illinois is $6.83, up from $6.78 on Monday. The national average for diesel is $6.53.
Regular unleaded dipped overnight from $4.91 to $4.89 in Illinois. The average price one year ago was $3.38, more than a $1.50 per gallon less than Tuesday’s price.
IHSA ANNOUNCES MEDIA SERVICE HONOREES
The Illinois High School Association has announced four new recipients of the IHSA Distinguished Media Service Award.
The honorees include Millie Lange of the Effingham area, WJOL’s Scott Slocum of the Joliet area, Dave Riggs of Edwards County and the late Jim Teckenbrock of the Plano area.
