(The Center Square) – Illinois U.S. Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Schaumburg, says he and his family were worshipping at a Hindu temple in Aurora last Sunday that was targeted for a potential mass shooting.
Palatine police said they found an eight-page manifesto and references to violence against people of South Asian descent when they arrested Alexandros Paporakis, 19, as he was leaving his home on Sunday evening.
On Wednesday, a Cook County judge ordered that Alexandros Paporakis, 19, be detained on charges of making a terrorist threat and unlawful possession of weapons.
In a social media post, Krishnamoorthi said he was grateful to the suspect’s co-workers who alerted police.
“I am horrified that a white supremacist attempted to carry out a mass shooting at the Hindu temple in Aurora where my family worships,” Krishnamoorthi posted.
