The City of Bloomington will begin its annual fall leaf vacuum collection Monday, November 2, with crews starting in Zone 1 Orange.
Collection will follow the city’s regular bulk and brush routes, completing one zone before moving to the next. Each zone may take several days, depending on leaf volume and weather conditions.
The collection season runs through December 30, with the city anticipating two collection cycles across Bloomington, weather permitting. Weekly progress updates will help residents track activity in their neighborhoods.
Residents are asked to rake leaves along the back of the curb, grass line or driveway edge. Leaves must remain loose and cannot be bagged. Piles should be no more than three feet high and must not block streets, storm drains, sidewalks or traffic.
Leaf piles should also be kept away from mailboxes, utility poles and other obstructions. Sticks, branches and other debris must be kept separate from leaves and placed out for regular bulk and brush collection.
Residents are encouraged to have leaves ready as crews approach their zones. Because weather and leaf volume can affect the schedule, specific pickup dates cannot be guaranteed.
