Sydney Mays Jr of Bloomington, The murder suspect in the shooting deaths of three people on Riley Drive last summer, has hired a lawyer. Chicago lawyer Michael Jarard filed his appearance this week on behalf of Mays. Mays is charged with murder in the June 18 killings of Nate Pena and Corey Jackson and Juan Carlos Perez. He also faces attempted murder charges for critically wounding Pena’s 4-year-old son. Mays has been serving as his own legal counsel.
