The Illinois Department of Public Health is warning of a drug resistant fungal infection that is becoming a problem across the state. Public Health Director Dr. Ngozi Ezike says C. auris is rare, but has been found in some hospitals and nursing homes in the state. People with serious medical conditions are most at risk. IDPH says patients need to ask to make sure their doctor or hospital is aware of the threat, and is trying to minimize a C. auris infection.
