The defense in the murder case against Kirk Zimmerman believes the Bloomington police may have contaminated some evidence. Testimony yesterday focused on DNA and forensic evidence in the murder of Pam Zimmerman, who was found shot to death in her offices in 2014. The defense claims a police officer inspecting Kirk’s car may have touched the gearshift, where gunshot residue was found. The detective who inspected the vehicle testified he was the only one to go into the car, was wearing protective gloves, and only touched the door handle and steering wheel.
