Just focusing on crime and punishment isn’t stopping the violence in Chicago. State Rep. LaShawn Ford is pushing a resolution to have the state of Illinois fight violence like it is a disease. Ford says the state needs to focus on the problems that surround violence, like education, mental health, drugs and alcohol, and poverty. Ford says he hopes to get a vote on his idea in the next few weeks.
