Governor Pritzker is marking his 100th day in office. Since taking office, Pritzker has signed a landmark law raising the minimum wage to 15-dollars-an-hour by 2025. The governor has also proposed a budget with an estimated surplus, but over a billion dollars depends on new and adjusted income from sources like a proposed plastic bag tax and the legalization of recreational marijuana and sports betting. None of those proposals has passed the legislature yet, but the House is set to discuss sports betting in a committee hearing Thursday. Pritzker has also proposed a constitutional amendment to change Illinois’ flat income tax to a graduated income tax.
