A seven-year-old girl from Normal is being called a hero for calmly contacting 911 in an emergency. Kylee Shepherd was presented yesterday with the Youth Hero Award for her actions on February 27th. Her mother had fallen out of bed and begun convulsing. Kylee was able to calmly explain what was happening to the 911 operator, who relayed information to emergency workers. She also unlocked the door and then stayed on the phone and with her mother until paramedics arrived. It was the second of three seizures Kylee’s mother has had this year and she has since been put on anti-seizure medication.
