Normal Mayor Chris Koos is trying to calm what he believes is a stirring situation caused by the solo actions of town councilman Stan Nord regarding asking a business to relocate to Normal and asking the Bloomington Fire Chief to consider consolidating the two community’s fire departments.
Koos wrote in a letter to Bloomington officials saying that the Normal Town Council “honors the agreement not to poach businesses from Bloomington” adding he is most concerned by these “breaches of protocols between the two municipalities.”
Nord tells The Pantagraph he hopes the publicity Koos has brought to this does not hurt this opportunity for the taxpayers to save a lot of money.
Regarding the issue of fire departments, Nord said he and Chief Mohr are childhood friends, and he didn’t feel their conversation was inappropriate.
