State Rep. Dan Brady,Republican from Bloomington, announced Monday he will seek re-election in the 105th District. Brady says his campaign will focus on his legislative record of getting results and standing up for our district’s values. Brady will face a rematch against Republican David Paul Blumenshine in the March GOP primary. Brady beat Blumenshine by 50 percentage points in the 2018 primary. The winner of the GOP primary would face Democrat Chemberly Cummings, currently a Normal Town Council member, in November 2020.
Brady says his accomplishments to include:
- Support and passage of an additional $50 million in Monetary Award Program (MAP) grant funding and $35 million for the new AIM HIGH scholarship program, both to support Illinois college students. He also noted an “additional 5% (in funding) to all state universities, which means over $3.4 million in operational funds for Illinois State University.”
- Played a key role in passing the capital bill which would provide ISU with $160 million in funding for deferred maintenance and campus building and remodeling projects.
- Role in job-creating business reforms for economic growth, which includes the Blue Collar Job Act, Manufacturers Purchase Tax Credit, Retailers Tax, and the data center tax incentive.
- Voted against abortion measures and recreational marijuana legalization, which he said do not represent the “values” of the 105th District.
