Governor J.B. Pritzker is among many who came to Normal to see Rivian’s first public display of their electric vehicles. The electric car startup hosted a community event yesterday afternoon and showed off a battery-powered R1T pickup and R1S SUV. Rivian’s CEO says the company plans to invest at least 40-million dollars in the plant by the end of 2021 and hire at least a thousand employees. The first vehicles will be available for sale toward the end of 2020.
