Governor JB Pritzker and lawmakers Monday endorsed a bill that would give college athletes the ability to profit from their image.
The Student Athlete Endorsement Act is sponsored by State Rep. Chris Welch, who happens to be a former athlete.
Supporters emphasized the bill has bi-partisan support and they say the main goals are to make things fair for student athletes and for the state to compete for the best college talent.
California signed a similar bill into law last month.
